I am currently working as an unlicensed TC. However, I have had my real estate license in Florida since 2010, and had them in Iowa since 2016 and Illinois since 2019 (recently going inactive to expand my TC business). My background is in the legal field where I was a paralegal for almost 20 years. I originally had my license for my hobby in Florida, flipping houses. I did a handful of transactions for friends and family, but basically just used it for myself to buy and sell without paying commissions. In 2019, I decided to quit my day job and go into real estate full-time.
I quickly found out that even though I knew how to buy and sell real estate, I didn’t know how to sell myself. I had a really hard time convincing strangers to use me as their Realtor instead of using someone with much more experience than me, or even someone they knew. Well, don’t worry! I found my niche!
Remember all of that paralegal experience? It made me the perfect fit for transaction management. I found that I don’t mind sitting and staring at the computer screen all day, keeping track of all the details that keep a transaction moving. I also found that most Realtors really don’t enjoy that part. Not even a little bit!
So now, I’ve been doing this for about five years. I’ve handled over 600 transactions for my agents. I would count that as some pretty good experience! I bet some of you reading this right now may not have handled that many transactions yourself yet?
So yes, you have other options. But I bet you don’t have BETTER options!
